PREPARATION IS EVERYTHING

Pre-production, or preparation for a video production, plays a crucial role in the success and efficiency of a recording session. We often work in a virtual studio, in which almost everything-except the presenter and table-is virtual.

The better the preparation, the smoother and more efficient the recording day will be. But what exactly does pre-production entail and why is it so important?

WHAT IS PRE-PRODUCTION?

Pre-production includes all preparations made before the cameras start rolling. This goes far beyond just setting up the equipment.

In a virtual studio, such as ours, the setting is completely customized. From the background to the branding and graphics displayed during the filming.

As an example, we can project a city like Rotterdam, complete with AI-generated birds. Everything is prepared in the pre-production stage, so that the recording is flawless.

FLEXIBILITY IN THE VIRTUAL STUDIO

The virtual studio offers a lot of flexibility. We have multiple sets, such as a talk show setting or lounge setup.

We can also deploy multiple virtual screens to display presentations, demos or visual content. Ideal for product demos or technical explanations.

Suppose you want to give a software demo: the TVs show the demo in real time while the presenter speaks. This reinforces the message and makes the presentation more dynamic.

DIFFERENT VIDEO FORMATS

An important part of pre-production is determining which platforms the video will be made for. Vertically for Instagram or TikTok? Or horizontally for YouTube and LinkedIn?

This is all done in advance so that the content is immediately captured in the best possible way. This avoids costly post-processing.

THE IMPACT ON EFFICIENCY

The more time invested in pre-production, the less time needed during shooting. Especially in productions with hundreds of images and graphics, this is essential.

Without preparation, recordings would take an enormous amount of time, leading to unnecessary costs and frustration. Proper preparation makes all the difference here.

CONCLUSION

Pre-production is the key to a successful video production. Whether it is preparing the virtual studio, creating visual content, or planning the technical details such as format.

Good preparation ensures that everything goes smoothly on the day of the shoot. And that makes the difference between a standard video and a production that really impresses.

"Our people make the difference." Really? As a former "digital workplace & IT entrepreneur," I've said this for years about my 25 colleagues. But the reality is we were only considered thought leaders by 5% of our target audience. Even today, this remains a common statement from MSPs and IT service providers. But these words lose their meaning if your expertise does not extend beyond your existing customers and a handful of prospects. I now help IT entrepreneurs with thought leadership in their niche.
