HOW DO YOU TRIGGER VIDEO ENGAGEMENT?

At a time when it is increasingly difficult to hold viewers' attention, it is essential to start your LinkedIn videos powerfully. Whether you choose a bumper, trailer, intro or some other technique, the goal is always to quickly grab attention and convince viewers to look further.

Here are the guidelines for different types of video introductions that will help you optimize your content to effectively respond to the ever-shortening attention span of your audience.

1. BUMPER

Duration: 5-10 seconds Goal: Grab immediate attention with a visually appealing and recognizable opening. Content: A bumper often consists of logo, animation or short text. It should summarize the core message and arouse curiosity.

2. TRAILER

Duration: 15-30 seconds Purpose: To give an overview of what your video has to offer. Content: A trailer shows highlights or teasers and encourages viewers to watch the full video. Use an engaging montage that highlights key points.

3. INTRO

Duration: 5-15 seconds Purpose: To inform the viewer about topic or speaker. Content: An intro can be a brief explanation, a catchy question or statement. The goal: inform and enthuse about what is to come.

"Our people make the difference." Really? As a former "digital workplace & IT entrepreneur," I've said this for years about my 25 colleagues. But the reality is we were only considered thought leaders by 5% of our target audience. Even today, this remains a common statement from MSPs and IT service providers. But these words lose their meaning if your expertise does not extend beyond your existing customers and a handful of prospects. I now help IT entrepreneurs with thought leadership in their niche.
