Do you already have a video email signature?

A video signature is a simple video marketing tactic that is mega-scalable. In a nutshell, the benefits:

  • It causes the recipient to pause for a moment after reading the mail
  • Connect with the sender on a human level
  • Leave an effective impression and make the recipient respond (most of the time)

Here are a few more tips for your video signature:

1. Record a 1-2 minute video

Record a short, clear video yourself in which you introduce yourself and leave something to think about.

From a video marketing perspective, this could also be, for example, a temporary video associated with an event or part of another video marketing best-practice.

2. Create a video thumbnail

To create a thumbnail for the video, you need to take a screen shot of the video.

You can do this for free with the Vidyard plugin. Then resize the image and save it as a GIF or JPG file. This image acts as a clickable link to your video.

3. Add the video signature to the email

Now that the video and your thumbnail are ready, you can immediately add them to your signature. This makes prospecting with video even more effective.

Also, don't forget to add a catchy call-to-action in your email signature. This will help you better connect with customers and immediately increase the likelihood of a response.

The real problem

'Buyers' often seem unreachable and immune to existing means of communication. Today, the receptionist acts almost as a human spam filter with a built-in defense system - like running into an Iron Dome.

At the same time, the buyer always needs relevant content, at the right time and from the right context.

I previously wrote in my blog selling to the crocodile that our brain has a filtering system to protect our neocortex from information overload.

Therefore, every buyer wants to know as quickly as possible whether you are interesting, have something new to offer and are intriguing. Only then does your message "get through" to the neocortex - and only then is attention paid to your value as a seller.

Moreover, our crocodile brain is sensitive to anything that moves. That's exactly why video works so well: it automatically triggers more attention than text or static images.

"Our people make the difference." Really? As a former "digital workplace & IT entrepreneur," I've said this for years about my 25 colleagues. But the reality is we were only considered thought leaders by 5% of our target audience. Even today, this remains a common statement from MSPs and IT service providers. But these words lose their meaning if your expertise does not extend beyond your existing customers and a handful of prospects. I now help IT entrepreneurs with thought leadership in their niche.
